A 13-member Force delegation attended the Gaming-related Crime Training Workshop in Macao from March 7 to 9 in a bid to enhance their capacity to combat cross-boundary loan sharking syndicates and money laundering activities.

The workshop was held by the Gaming-related Crimes Division of Macao Judiciary Police (MJP), with the Force delegates coming from the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau, the Narcotics Bureau, the Criminal Intelligence Bureau and the Commercial Crime Bureau.

The workshop covered a range of topics, such as the trend of loan sharking and money laundering related crimes, as well as cross-boundary enforcement strategy. The Force delegates exchanged with MJP officers their knowledge and experience in investigating these types of crimes.

With arrangements made by the MJP, the Force delegation visited security co-ordination centres in two casinos to get an understanding of the centres' joint action with the MJP in combating loan sharking activities and fraudulent practices.

The delegates said that the workshop had strengthened their capability in investigating gaming related crimes. Both the delegates and MJP hoped to maintain regular contact to build a closer partnership.
