With arrangements made by the Police College, Senior Inspector Wong Kit-ying attended a management course in the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) in Canada from March 19 to 28. She was the first Hong Kong police officer to receive training in JIBC.

JIBC is a post-secondary educational institution with a mission to develop professionals in the justice, public safety and social services fields. Ms Wong joined its management course, which covered a range of topics such as leadership models, conflict management, understanding stress, team relationship management and self-reflection. Together with professionals from different fields, she attended seminars, conducted case studies, gave speeches and participated in other activities to hone her management skills. She also visited District 4 Police Station of Vancouver Police Department to learn about its operations and challenges.

This marked the commencement of collaboration between the JIBC and the Hong Kong Police College. It not only enabled the officer to gain insights into the Vancouver Police Department, but also offered an invaluable opportunity for the officer to strengthen ties with professionals in different fields.
