Former Assistant Commissioner Ng Ka-sing was invited to give a talk on "Self-Motivation, Lifelong Learning" for some 60 officers and civilian staff members on March 16. This marked the first of a series of talks run by Sau Mau Ping District (SMPDIST) under the Star Mentor Programme. They attendees found the talk very enlightening.

The second session of the programme will take place at Kowloon East Regional Headquarters on May 11, on which former Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai will speak on "Self Exertion in Adversity" to promote positive attitudes of life.

The Star Mentor Programme is one of the initiatives launched by SMPDIST under Project "Smart-Me-uP" (SMP) to enhance the personal and professional qualities of its officers. The other initiatives were the Mentorship Programme to encourage officers to conduct policing studies under the guidance of senior staff, and the Shadowing Programme to provide an interactive platform for inspectors and senior inspectors to work closely with the senior management.
