Marine South Division (MSDIV) conducted a drill with Cheung Chau Fire Station of the Fire Services Department (FSD) at Cheung Chau Typhoon Shelter on May 25. The drill aimed to enhance co-ordination between the Marine Police and the FSD in dealing with "Vessel On Fire" incidents.

The drill simulated a fishing vessel, moored at the typhoon shelter, catching fire and a person falling overboard. Firemen boarded a police launch to put out the fire while divers from FSD carried out an underwater search for the simulated victim. Over 40 marine police officers and firemen participated in the exercise.

MSDIV Commander Ting Chi-kwok praised the officers and firemen for their professionalism, responsiveness and co-operation displayed in the drill. Meanwhile, some MSDIV officers distributed leaflets in the typhoon shelter to raise fishermen's fire prevention awareness.
