A proprietor of a restaurant in Tai Lam Chung, Mr Wu, and a family member of a victim, Mr Yim, presented respectively pennants and a letter of thanks to officers of Tuen Mun District (TMDIST) on May 16 for their professionalism and efficiency in detecting an arson and a deception case. Receiving the pennants and letter were Commander of TMDIST Kong Man-keung, Acting Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Yan Fong-wai and officers from District Anti-Triad Squad 1 (DATS 1).

In the small hours of February 15, a kitchen of the restaurant was set on fire. After investigation, the officers arrested a suspect on February 21. The suspect was charged and the legal proceedings are under way.

The deception case occurred on January 8 when a person with speech impairment was deceived into borrowing money from a finance company. Officers from DATS 1 followed up the case and arrested a suspect swiftly.
