Under the arrangement of the Police College, Chief Inspector Chen Chi-cheong attended the "Senior Management Institute for Police" programme run by the Police Executive Research Forum in Boston, United States, from June 3 to 21.

The residential training programme covered a variety of topics, including organisational changes, psychology in decision making, persuasion and influence, negotiation skills, ethics in law enforcement leadership, diversity in organisations, media relations and terrorism-related issues. The programme, delivered by professors of Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as other leading scholars, consisted of lectures, group discussions, case studies and role-play exercises. A number of serving and retired senior police officers in the United States were invited to share their experience.

Mr Chen and 84 representatives from law enforcement organisations in the United States and Canada participated in the programme. It provided a platform for them to exchange their experience on a range of management issues.

Mr Chen opined that the programme has broadened his horizons, enhanced his professional knowledge and given him an opportunity to build a network with overseas counterparts.
