Shatin District (STDIST) and STDIST Junior Police Call Honorary President Council jointly held the "12th Science and Technology Innovation Symposium – 2028'sME" at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park on July 5. The initiative tied in with the Government's approach of promoting STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).


Secretary for Security Mr John Lee was the guest of honour and speaker at the event. He shared the secret of success and insights into the development of innovation technology, together with other guest speakers, namely Chief Technology Officer of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation Mr George Tee, Channel Sales Lead of Google (Hong Kong and Taiwan) Ms Terry Fung, Senior Marketing Manager at Microsoft Ms Sandy Poon, and popular band "Mr".


The symposium was well received by about 1 000 students and community leaders, including Assistant District Officer (Shatin) Mr Simon Wong, Chairman of Sha Tin District Fight Crime Committee Mr Li Sai-wing, Chairman of STDIST Junior Police Call Honorary President Council Mr Cho Kwai-yee.


The event provided a platform for elites and celebrities to exchange their views with students so as to broaden the latter's horizons and help them plan for their future. The first symposium was held in July last year and the latest event marked the first anniversary of the symposia. So far, more than 6 000 students of 24 secondary schools have attended the symposia and they gave highly positive comment.
