The "20th Eastern District (EDIST) Optimistic View of Life Project" was concluded on June 26. Under the leadership of police volunteers, 40 secondary school students participated in training and group activities of the project. These activities included outward bound, volunteer service for elderly and mentally incapacitated persons, and visits to correctional institutions.


Co-organised by EDIST, Eastern District Fight Crime Committee (EDFCC) and Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong Chai Wan Centre, in association with Eastern District Office and Shue Yan University and sponsored by Eastern District Council (EDC), the project aimed to encourage the participants to build positive values and live a healthy lifestyle, and enhance their confidence.


Officiating at a commendation ceremony of the project included EDIST Commander Rupert Dover, EDC Chairman Mr Wong Kin-pan, Acting Social Welfare Officer (Eastern and Wan Chai) of Social Welfare Department Ms Vivian Lam, Assistant Eastern District Officer Ms Angora Ngai, EDFCC member Mr Wong Chiu-yin, President of Hong Kong Island Federation Mr Tsang Heung-kwan, and Honorary President of Hong Kong Commerce & Industry Associations Limited Ms Fong Choi-peng. They were pleased to witness the growth of the participants.
