The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) conducted the sixth seminar on "Online Intelligence Gathering Techniques" at the Police Headquarters on July 17 to enhance frontline investigation officers' competence in criminal intelligence gathering.


At the seminar, Superintendent Lam Cheuk-ho of the CSTCB stressed that Open-source Intelligence Gathering has been developing rapidly worldwide for tackling online and offline crimes. Officers should master the techniques to face the upcoming challenges. The CSTCB Training Team outlined the basic and advanced skill sets for online intelligence gathering, as well as advanced Internet search techniques and analysis result.


The seminar attracted the participation of over 100 officers from Crime Wing Headquarters, Regional/District Intelligence Units, Crime Investigation Teams, Regional/District Special Duties Squads, Regional Missing Persons Units and Task Force Sub-Units. The CSTCB has conducted regular seminars on "Online Intelligence Gathering Techniques" since March 2017. Over 600 officers have attended the seminars so far.
