With the support of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories South (RCPO NTS) held four crime prevention seminars for about 2 300 non-local students in their orientation to the university in August.

RCPO NTS set up an anti-deception booth in the campus in collaboration with the Commercial Crime Bureau, the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre and the Police Community Relations Office of Shatin District to raise the students' anti-deception awareness and alert them of the modus operandi of technology crime.

The Security Office of CUHK thanked officers for their sustained efforts in promoting anti-deception messages. In 2017, there were 30 telephone fraud cases relating to non-local CUHK students, incurring a total loss of $7.8 million. In the first half of 2018, only three related cases with a total loss of $0.4 million were recorded.
