In the light of the opening of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link in late September, the Emergency Unit of Kowloon West (EU KW) conducted a "Functional Training" Programme at its operational base for officers of the West Kowloon Station Team (WKST) of Yaumatei Division on August 15 and 29. This helped to equip the officers with the necessary skills to handle the policing tasks in the station.

The programme covered the tactics in the use of force and tasks related to immediate tactical intervention, followed by an exercise about handling a simulated major incident. It aimed to strengthen the officers' counter-terrorism awareness and their resilience in dealing with incidents in the station.

Acting Superintendent of EU KW Lau Tat-fai presented certificates to 61 officers of WKST on their completion of training.
