Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing officiated at the opening ceremony of the New Generation Report Room at Tseung Kwan O Police Station on September 27. He then toured the new facilities in the company of Kowloon East Regional Commander Cheung Ching and Tseung Kwan O District (TKODIST) Commander Kong Hok-lai.

Also attending the ceremony were Chairperson of Sai Kung District Council Mr Ng Sze-fuk, Chairperson of Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committee Mr Chan Kuen-kwan, Chairperson of Tseung Kwan O Senior Police Call Honorary Presidents Council Ms Ng Yin-mui, Chairperson of Tseung Kwan O Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Council Mr Cheung Ka-ho and Assistant District Officer (Sai Kung) Miss Joey Wong.

The new facilities of the report room, including semi-enclosed reporting booths and a special interview room for vulnerable victims or witnesses in sensitive cases, provide a higher degree of privacy for users. Furthermore, the reception counter is equipped with an induction loop system for the hearing-impaired as well as an electronic queuing system to optimise services for the public.

To enhance public understanding of the operation of the New Generation Report Room, TKODIST has arranged guided visits for local students and elderly people. All the participants showed a strong interest in police work.
