The Police College has implemented an electronic Practical Assessment (e-PA) system for Recruit Police Constables (RPCs) from September 13 to replace the use of paper-based score sheets.

The Learning Technologies Division (LTD) of the Police College collaborated earlier with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to build a new Mesh Wi-Fi System in the Aberdeen campus with a view to supporting electronic teaching and learning. In this connection, the Examinations and Assessment Centre (E&AC) of the Police College and the LTD conducted a feasibility evaluation of using tablet computers for PA. The e-PA was launched after thorough user acceptance tests.

The e-PA enables examiners to use tablet computers to upload assessment results of each trainee on the spot to the database. The RPC instructors may then utilise the assessment results to conduct a gap analysis of the performance of all trainees and provide remedial training to enhance the trainees' performance. The E&AC will continue to explore the use of technology to enhance the assessment of examinations.
