A group of community leaders presented plaques to officers of Mong Kok District (MKDIST) on September 19 in appreciation of their professionalism and outstanding performance. They praised the officers for a drop in the overall crime figure and a rise in the detection rate of MKDIST over the year.


These community leaders included Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee Ms Chan Heung-lin, Vice Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong District Council (YTMDC) Ms Wong Shu-ming, Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong East Area Committee (AC) Mr Fong Chun-kit, Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong West AC Mr Wong Tsz-shing, Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong North AC Mr John Chong and Chairperson of General Committee of Mong Kok Kai Fong Association Mr Leung Wah-sing. They encouraged the officers to continue their efforts in making MKDIST a safe community to live and work in.


Receiving the commendation were MKDIST Commander Kerry Carew, Deputy District Commander (DDC) Mok Hing-wing, Assistant District Commander (Crime) (ADC Crime) Chung Chi-ming, ADC (Operations) Lee Cho-ming, ADC (Administration) Fung Wing-chuen, Police Community Relations Officer (PCRO) Wan Hiu-ting and District Operations Officer (DOO) Wong Shu-mui.


On the same day, YTMDC Member Mr Chow Chun-fai, together with representatives of owners' corporations of Sai Yeung Choi Street South Charter, presented tapestry flags to officers of MKDIST in recognition of their efforts in preventing and fighting crime, particularly their work in maintaining law and order at Sai Yeung Choi Street South and combating illegal prostitution. Special Duty Squad of MKDIST made 108 arrests between January and July, with more than 300 prostitutes and people arrested for breach of condition of stay and living on earnings of prostitution of others. Receiving the commendation were MKDIST Commander Kerry Carew, DDC Mok Hing-wing, ADC (Operations) Lee Cho-ming, PCRO Wan Hiu-ting, DOO Wong Shu-mui and officers of Task Force Sub-Unit and Police Community Relations Office.
