The Kowloon East (KE) Region Community Day cum Police Family Day 2018 took place at Wong Tai Sin Police Station on November 3, attracting over 8 000 visits from community leaders, community partners, teachers, students, parents, elders, teenagers and non-ethnic Chinese.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, KE Regional Commander Cheung Ching said KE Region has attached great importance to strengthening relations with community partners and serving the community. The event provided a platform for the public, especially the youth, to learn more about police work. She thanked the Honorary Presidents of the KE Happy Teen Committee for their support and contribution. With Christmas and the New Year around the corner, Ms Cheung reminded all participants to enhance the security of their premises and ensure the safety of their personal belongings.
Other officiating guests at the ceremony included Chairmen of District Councils and District Fight Crime Committees in KE Region, as well as Honorary Presidents of the KE Happy Teen Committee.
The fun day featured a wide range of activities, such as the playing of music by the Police Band and a wind band of St Bonaventure College and High School, performances by KE Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call members, a demonstration by the Force Rope Access Cadre, a Police dog show, a display of police equipment and historical police uniforms, a "mini police" photo booth, a "mini police" motorcycle track, a three-dimensional photo corner, balloon twisting and game booths. Guided tours to the police station were also arranged.
Echoing the objectives of the KE Happy Teen Committee, the event unleashed positive energy, promoted a harmonious society and enhanced police-community partnership.
