The Police Licensing Office (PLO) and the Liquor Licensing Board (LLB) arranged a night visit for LLB and government representatives to some liquor-licensed premises in Central and Mong Kok on November 17. Chairman of the LLB Dr Wong Kong-tin, Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene Miss Vivian Lau and more than 30 representatives attended the annual visit.

The visit provided an opportunity for the participants to observe the operation of the trade and to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by law enforcement officers as well as issues related to the regulation of liquor-licensed premises.

The government representatives came from the Food and Health Bureau, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the Fire Services Department, the Buildings Department and the Environmental Protection Department.

The participants said the visit was informative and would facilitate the processing of liquor licence applications as well as policy formulation. Some of them said this was the first time they visited upstairs bars and witnessed law enforcement officers inspecting liquor-licensed premises. They praised the Police for their professionalism in regulating these premises.
