The Force renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Student Internship Programme with the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on January 9 to enhance partnership. The programme offers opportunities for CityU students to undertake police related academic research projects as assigned by the Service Quality Wing (SQW), and gain work experience in their field of studies.

The MoU was signed by Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Chung Sze-pong and Head of Department of Public Policy Professor Richard Walker.

Director of Management Services Kwok Yam-shu attended the ceremony to witness the signing of the MoU and show support for the programme. He shared his thoughts with CityU academics and said, "The Force has been proactively engaging the academia as a means to police with the community. The renewal of the MoU lays a solid foundation for further collaboration between the Force and the City University of Hong Kong."

The MoU was first signed in 2013 and renewed in 2016. Among the 12 undergraduate participants, two eventually joined the Force as Inspectors to serve the community.
