The Stores Management Division (SMD) held a briefing on January 4 to explain the procedures and important points of government procurement. The briefing attracted the participation of nearly 200 police officers and civilian staff members.

Chief Corruption Prevention Officer Ms Jennifer Luke of the Independent Commission Against Corruption shared tips for preventing corruption and showed a video on procurement-related corruption cases. Then SMD representatives explained government procurement principles, quotation and tender process, contract administration as well as points to note in the procurement process. In the light of the Director of Audit's Report No. 71 published last year on procurement of operational equipment by the Force, the participants were briefed on the necessary actions to implement the recommendations of the Audit Report.

The briefing was a good opportunity to increase the understanding and awareness of Force members on government procurement. The relevant materials of the briefing have been uploaded to the SMD's webpage on Police Intranet (POINT) for reference.
