The Road Safety Office of Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) hosted the "2018 Sha Tin Festival - Strider Road Safety Competition Carnival" with the support of Sha Tin Celebrations Association, Sha Tin Festival Committee 2018, Sha Tin District Office and a balance bike group at Sha Tin Road Safety Park on January 26.


About 150 children aged between two and six brought along their own balance bikes and protection equipment to participate in the event. Through lessons given by officers and coaches, watching a new animation produced by the Road Safety Office and using a new augmented reality mobile app, the children and their parents had a deeper understanding of road safety. The children applied what they learned about traffic regulations and police instructions. They underwent driving assessments and obtained satisfactory results. Each of them was awarded a Road Safety Certificate for Balance Bike Rider.


Officiating at an official ceremony were Superintendent Yip Siu-ming of T NTS, Assistant District Officer (Sha Tin) Mr Simon Wong, Vice Chairman of Sha Tin Festival Committee 2018 cum Convenor of the Culture and Arts Group Ms Yue Shin-man, Vice Chairman cum Principal Secretary of Sha Tin Celebrations Association Mr Li Sai-wing and Deputy District Leisure Manager (Sha Tin) Mr Simon Li.
