Superintendent (Administration) of New Territories North (NTN) Regional Headquarters Chan Man-sek conducted eight workshops about supervisory accountability for over 570 non-commissioned officers (NCOs) to raise their awareness as supervising officers in sub-units, district investigation teams or crime squads.

The participants spoke on how they perceived supervisory accountability as well as the difficulties in maintaining supervisory accountability. They watched two videos about passengers attacking bus drivers, with two completely different results. The difference was caused by whether or not other passengers intervened. The videos made the participants realise the importance of early intervention.

The workshops revisited the Pointers on Aberrant Behaviour and Timely Intervention to draw the participants' attention to the significance of early intervention by supervising officers. The workshops provided a platform for the participants to exchange views and to strengthen their confidence in performing a supervisory role. NTN Regional Headquarters will continue to run the workshops for the remaining or newly promoted NCOs.
