The Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories North (RCPO NTN) held the "Project North-i Recognition Ceremony" on March 28 to express gratitude to stakeholders for their support in enhancing building security in the Region.

Under "Project North-i", RCPO NTN has been working in partnership with police districts and District Fight Crime Committees (DFCCs) in the Region since April 2018 to subsidise low-security buildings with owners' corporations to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to strengthen building security as well as crime prevention and detection. In the first phase of the project, a total of 11 old buildings have been installed with 17 CCTV systems. This phase of the project completed smoothly in late March with close co-operation of all parties concerned.

Officiating at the project recognition ceremony were NTN Regional Commander Kwok Yam-yung; representatives of District Offices; chairpersons and members of DFCCs; sponsors of the project; and representatives of technical support and consultant companies as well as contractors of the project, owners' corporations concerned and other low-security buildings of the project.

The second phase of the project started in April with a view to benefiting more eligible buildings, thereby promoting community-police co-operation to build a stable community.
