Commander of Marine Port District (MPDIST) Lau Cheng-fung appointed 31 Information Security Wardens for the new term of the Information Security Working Group on April 24. The Working Group was set up in 2015 to raise information security awareness of officers.

Speaking at the appointment ceremony, Mr Lau stressed that the role of Information Security Wardens is important. They not only help promote information security, but also assist the Formation Information Technology Security Officer to check regularly if the devices and facilities of the Information and Communications Technology System in MPDIST are in line with the Force Information Security Manual.

A training workshop was held immediately after the ceremony, during which the Training and Staff Relations Officer (TSRO) of MPDIST shared with the Information Security Wardens the importance of checking shared terminals, updating anti-virus software, detecting unauthorised software and handling personal information on computers.

The workshop has enhanced the skills of the Information Security Wardens in checking computer devices, and increased their confidence in promoting information security.
