Applications are invited for the Mainland and Overseas Summer Course Sponsorship Scheme of the Police Welfare Fund for children of police officers to attend summer courses on the Mainland or overseas.


A total of 71 places are available for application by officers up to the rank of Senior Superintendent (SSP) on a proportional basis. The respective number of sponsored places and the maximum amount of subsidy are two places and $1,000 for SSP and Superintendent, nine and $2,000 for Inspectorate Officer, and 60 and $3,000 for Junior Police Officer; or 70 per cent of the course fee, whichever is the less.


The applicant should be a serving Police Officer, and his or her child should be either blood related or legally adopted and has not been sponsored by this scheme before. If both parents are Police Officers, only one of them may apply for the nominee. The child should be aged between 12 and 21 on June 1, 2019, that is he or she was born between June 1, 1998 and May 31, 2007 (both dates inclusive).


Applicants should submit the application form, obtainable from Force NoticeBoard or website of the Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch (PS&SR Branch), together with copies of their child's birth certificate and school reports for the academic year 2017-2018 including the Second Term, either by hand or by post to PS&SR Branch (Attn: EO SUP SEV 2) by 5pm on June 6.


Should there by more applicants than the quota, the successful applicants will be chosen by ballot. The ballot is tentatively scheduled to be held on June 12. The results will be announced on Force NoticeBoard and by individual notices on June 20.
