The first "Certificate of Knowledge in Policing Programme", run by the Community Relations Bureau of the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB), commenced in mid-July. The programme is organised for Junior Police Call (JPC) Advanced Leaders aged between 15 and 25 years old. It is the first vocational programme recognised under the Qualifications Framework (QF) in the non-formal curriculum for youth.

An inauguration ceremony of the programme was held at JPC@Pat Heung on August 5. Superintendent Chung Kin-yeung of Pat Heung Youth Development Division officiated at the ceremony and welcomed the first intake of 19 JPC trainees. He encouraged them to participate in various training activities to equip themselves to cope with future challenges and become responsible youth leaders and fight crime partners.

The 14-month part-time programme was accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications at Level 3 of the QF in January. It consists of six modules, namely Youth Development and Civic Education, Constabulary Duties and Community Policing, Criminal Justice System and Law, Criminal and Traffic Offences, Leadership Skills Training for Youth as well as Physical Development and Training.

Meanwhile, the first batch of JPC trainees took part in a leadership training camp at JPC@Pat Heung between August 5 and 9 to complete the module of Leadership Skills Training for Youth. They were required to undergo a series of individual and group assessments during and after the camp. Trainees who pass assessments of all six modules will be awarded the "Certificate of Knowledge in Policing". The first batch of intake is expected to graduate in August next year.
