Senior Superintendent (Counterfeit, Support and Intelligence) Cheng Lai-ki of the Commercial Crime Bureau led a delegation comprising officers from the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC), Counterfeit and Intelligence Divisions to Macao to attend the Seminar on Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation and the Reciprocal Stop-Payment Mechanism on October 15.

The delegation met with the Macao Judiciary Police (MJP) officers led by the Head of Gaming-related and Economic Crimes Investigation Department, Mr Luís Leong, on the implementation of the Reciprocal Stop-Payment Mechanism. Both sides agreed to forge a closer partnership and implement the details of the work and cooperation in relation to the Hong Kong-Macao Reciprocal Stop-Payment Mechanism. On behalf of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), the ADCC would notify the Macao counterparts through the instantaneous notification mechanism and recover the crime proceeds in relation to cross-boundary email scams, online scams and telephone deception in an attempt to enhance both parties' capability in recovering the ill-gotten gains and mitigate victims' losses.

During the meeting, the delegation exchanged views with the MJP on strategies and initiatives to combat fraud related crimes, thereby consolidating the partnership between the HKPF and the MJP.
