Commissioner Tang Ping-keung has been visiting officers from various frontline formations and operational fronts since taking up his office. He, for example, visited those operational areas of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to cheer on officers and collect their views, intending to effectively provide support to his fellow staff.

On November 27, Mr Tang had meetings with Commissioner Rank Officers and Chief Superintendents, drawing their support to the four working priorities encompassing "End Violence", "Improve Competence to Handle Major Incidents and Terrorist Attacks", "Empower Officers" and "Garner Support". Mr Tang conveyed his appreciation for their leadership and the knack to unify their officers throughout this trying period and encouraged them to keep up the great efforts and continue to lead by examples.

Mr Tang also had meetings with staff representatives, including police and the civilian grades. He thanked the associations for their tireless efforts to speak up for colleagues and clarify unjust and false allegations against the Force.

Dialogue with CP

Mr Tang places a great deal of importance on internal communication. He therefore held a forum entitled "Dialogue with the Commissioner of Police" on November 29 at the Police Headquarters. Together with the Senior Directorate Group members, Mr Tang took the opportunity to engage in sincere dialogue with members across the Force, and directly respond to the queries raised by colleagues towards a variety of issues encompassing policing challenges and welfare issues. On the other hand, many officers expressed their heartfelt thanks to our auxiliary counterparts for their tremendous contribution during Operation TIDERIDER.

The forum was attended by over four hundred officers. Apart from taking part in the question and answer session, colleagues also raised questions through electronic channels. Last but not least, in addition to saying thanks to the attendees who actively raised questions and showed their care to the Force, Mr Tang once again encouraged all colleagues to keep up the strong momentum, and hoped that officers could be inspired by the wisdom of "Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty", and work together to rise to the current challenges.
