Commissioner Tang Ping-keung paid courtesy calls in Beijing between December 6 and 8 after taking up his post in November. Accompanying Mr Tang on the visit was Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Siu Chak-yee.


Mr Tang called on the Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, Mr Guo Shengkun, the State Councillor and Minister of Public Security, Mr Zhao Kezhi, and the Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Zhang Xiaoming. During the meetings, Mr Tang introduced the Force's new management and briefed them on the law and social order situation in Hong Kong. Both sides also discussed police cooperation between the Mainland and Hong Kong.


The Mainland officials highly recognised the efforts of the Force over the past six months and would continue to support the Force to stop violence and curb disorder.
