Marine Region received delivery of the first of a class of eight new high speed craft on December 5, 2019.

Described as a Multi-Mission Interceptor, this craft is the first arrival under the Region's Fleet Replacement Programme, which will consist of 124 new launches, vessels and small support craft to be delivered over the next few years. The Fleet Replacement Programme is the largest undertaken in the Region's history and the new fleet will embrace new technologies to provide the Police Force with modern fit-for-purpose craft capable of tackling the challenges of policing the waters of Hong Kong.

With its triple 350-hp outboard engines, the new craft is capable of speeds in excess of 55 knots (about 102 kph) and combined with excellent maneuverability that will greatly enhance the Region's capability in intercepting non-compliant vessels and ensuring the safety and security of the waters of Hong Kong. Following this first delivery, a further seven craft will arrive over the next 12 months and be deployed under the Small Boat Division.
