Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories South (RCPO NTS) organised an event for the elderly from Kwai Tsing District to celebrate winter solstice and enhance the crime prevention awareness among the elderly on December 12, 2019.


The event was held in partnership with Windshield Charitable Foundation, Lai Sum Service Association, Life Encouraging Fund Limited, Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations (Kwai Tsing District), Kwai Chung Elderly Mutual Help Committee and Cotton Spinners Association Secondary School. Officers of RCPO NTS explained the crime trends and the modus operandi of swindlers in street and telephone deceptions and gave fraud prevention tips to 180 elderly people. Students also staged performances for the elderly at the event. Gift packs and anti-crime publicity materials were given out to the elderly to disseminate crime prevention messages.


Moreover, officers of RCPO NTS explained cyber and technology crimes to 20 students and teachers of Cotton Spinners Association Secondary School who helped organise the above event. Calendars with the theme of technology crime prevention were distributed to the students and teachers to enhance their crime prevention awareness.
