Tseung Kwan O District (TKODIST) held a craft workshop for non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) children and Senior Police Call (SPC) members at the Islamic Association Centre in Tiu Keng Leng on January 20.

With the theme of "Share the wealth with loved ones", the workshop aimed to promote cultural exchange among the participants. Under the guidance of Police Community Relations officers of TKODIST and five SPC members, the NEC children learnt to prepare spring couplets and festive lanterns for Lunar New Year. The mediums of instruction were Cantonese and simple English. This provided an opportunity for the children to practise Cantonese. The workshop not only enabled the NEC children to know more about the customs of Lunar New Year, but also fostered mutual understanding among the participants.

TKODIST Commander Mark Anstiss hoped the activity would bring the participants together as one group, despite their cultural differences. He was glad to see all the participating kids enjoy the workshop and show much interest in Chinese culture.
