Western District (WDIST) and the Hong Kong Rugby Union co-hosted the closing ceremony of "Project SYNERGY Join Hands to Fight Crime Rugby Training Programme" and a friendly match on January 17. WDIST Commander Wong Siu-hing officiated at the event at the Caritas Wu Cheng-chung Secondary School.

Over 20 non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) students of Caritas Wu Cheng-chung Secondary School participated in the four-month training programme commenced in October 2019. The programme enabled the students to develop positive values and establish mutual trust with police officers and representatives of the Hong Kong Rugby Union. A career seminar was hosted by the Hong Kong Rugby Union to introduce career opportunities in the professional sporting industry to students. On the other hand, the programme provided a platform for WDIST officers to promote racial integration and disseminate crime prevention messages among the NEC students.
