In view of the situation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Force has established a Police Anti-coronavirus Contingent comprising 60 regular officers and 120 retired police volunteers to support various government departments in implementing anti-epidemic measures. Duties of the contingent include assisting in the enforcement of quarantine orders at boundary control points, contacting people under compulsory quarantine via phone calls and conducting spot checks on them, stationing at quarantine centres, and assisting in the preparatory work of converting existing facilities into quarantine centres.

Since February 14, members of the contingent have been stationed at Shenzhen Bay Port, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port and the Hong Kong International Airport to provide assistance to the Department of Health in the implementation of quarantine orders. The members assist people who enter Hong Kong from the Mainland or who have been to the Mainland in the past 14 days preceding arrival in Hong Kong, to share their real-time locations using their mobile phones or wear electronic wristbands.

Working through the rough times, Force members are joining hands with different sectors of the community in the fight against the disease, fully demonstrating their commitment to serving Hong Kong.
