In view of the recent upsurge of surgical mask e-shopping scams, officers of Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East (RCPO KE) have liaised with the Home Affairs Department, the Hong Kong Housing Authority and some property management offices to seek their assistance in displaying posters in prominent areas at community halls as well as public and private housing estates in order to alert the public of the recent trend and remind them to beware of falling victim to deception while purchasing surgical masks through online platforms.

RCPO KE also sought help from various stakeholders, including the Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants and Related Trades Limited, Sai Kung Rural Committee, Hang Hau Rural Committee and local shop owners to distribute leaflets and disseminate anti-deception messages to members of the public. RCPO KE will continue to monitor crime trends and devise pertinent crime prevention strategies.
