In view of a spate of theft from vehicle cases targeting taxi drivers in Kowloon East in February, officers of Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East (RCPO KE) have approached the Hong Kong Taxi Owners’ Association to broadcast a pre-recorded audio message through the association’s taxi call centre. The message alerted about 1 500 association members of the prevalent modus operandi of theft from vehicle cases where perpetrators would distract drivers and steal their belongings.

In addition, officers have liaised with the Hong Kong Taxi Council, the Taxi Drivers and Operators Association as well as various taxi companies with a view to spreading pertinent crime prevention information to other taxi drivers.

RCPO KE will continue to monitor crime trends, maintain close liaison with stakeholders and step up crime prevention measures in order to keep our community safe.
