In order to combat telephone deception, Crime Kowloon East has endeavoured to promote crime prevention in the community and on the Internet.

In March, officers of the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East (RCPO KE) distributed leaflets and souvenirs at public and private housing estates, shopping malls and markets, during which they explained the modus operandi of telephone deception to members of the public and introduced the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222” to enhance public awareness against deception.

Moreover, RCPO KE officers have designed a variety of four-frame comics to deliver anti-telephone deception messages to people of different age groups. The comics are published via social media platforms and various publications to reach a wider audience.

RCPO KE will continue to monitor crime trends and devise relevant crime prevention strategies.
