In view of the outbreak of COVID-19, various Yau Tsim District Junior Police Call (YTDIST JPC) Honorary Presidents and non-ethnic Chinese leaders donated approximately 13 000 and 2 000 surgical masks respectively in February and March. YTDIST officers, "Project Gemstone" members and YTDIST JPC members distributed the masks to the needy, including local community organisations and members such as religious facilities, schools, elderly singletons and cleaning workers. They also reminded high risk individuals and vulnerable groups to maintain good hygiene and to beware of surgical mask shopping scams.

Moreover, YTDIST officers liaised with different religious groups to brief them on the implementation of the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation (Cap. 599G) and advise them to look for other ways to hold their worship services. The religious groups have therefore implemented special measures, such as the use of live-streaming worship services, to avoid group gatherings to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.
