Railway District (RAILDIST), in collaboration with the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit, shared latest anti-terrorism information with over 80 managers of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) on April 2. The sharing session covered global terrorist threat and the common attack tactics targeting railway systems as well as strategies for handling suspicious objects and uncooperative persons.

Owing to recent social disturbances, the MTRC is faced with unprecedented challenges, including threats posed by suspicious objects and conflicts provoked by uncooperative persons in violation of the MTR By-laws. During the sharing session, the participants actively raised questions and exchanged views with police representatives.

The sharing session not only strengthened the counter-terrorism (CT) awareness and responsiveness of the MTRC staff, but also increased their knowledge of handling suspicious objects and uncooperative persons in the railway environment. The enhanced partnership between the Police and the MTRC helps ensure the safety of the railway system in Hong Kong.
