Informer handling is an integral part in intelligence-led policing. With a view to enhancing officers’ awareness and capability, Crime Kowloon West Headquarters (CRM KW) and Crime Division of Mong Kok District (CRM MKDIST) co-hosted a Human Intelligence and Informer Handling Workshop on July 10.

After an opening address by Senior Superintendent Tsang Chung-bun of CRM KW and Assistant District Commander (Crime) of MKDIST Ching Chi-yan, Superintendent Alan Chung of CRM KW and Detective Inspector Leung Ka-chun of CRM KW kicked off the workshop with an introduction of human intelligence and the potential risks associated with informer handling. The workshop adopted an interactive approach with real life scenarios and a table-top exercise on the recruitment and handling of informers. The workshop was well received and generated dialogues among officers, which greatly enhanced their understanding of the topic.
