Shop front extension and goods occupying roads around Pei Ho Street have not only affected public hygiene, but also endangered public safety. In order to tackle the problem, the Task Force Sub-unit, the Patrol Sub-unit, the Police Community Relations Office and the District Traffic Team of Sham Shui Po District (SSPODIST) conducted a joint operation with the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) in the vicinity of Pei Ho Street on August 13.

During the operation, six summonses and ten fixed penalty notices were issued to shop owners who had caused obstruction of public places. In addition, 5.21 tonnes of obstructing articles were removed. SSPODIST will continue to work with other government departments to step up enforcement in order to safeguard the safety of members of the public.
