Commander of Shatin District (STDIST) Leung Tsz-kin led officers to host video conferences with 79 principals and teaching staff of 27 secondary schools and 21 primary schools on August 6 and 7 respectively. Officers presented the crime trend in the first half of 2020 and the youth crime situation, and introduced the latest modus operandi of deception on social media platforms. They also had in-depth discussions with the school representatives on youth programmes for the upcoming academic year.

In view of the epidemic, STDIST engaged with the schools via video conferencing and garnered valuable views from the school representatives. One of the principals suggested organising activities such as visits to police stations so as to enhance mutual understanding between students and the Police and increase the youth’s knowledge of criminal justice process. Another principal invited police officers from different units to life planning lessons to share their challenges and varieties of police work with students.

Mr Leung appreciated the candid sharing by the school representatives. STDIST will continue to collaborate with schools to raise the law-abiding awareness of students.
