Shatin District (STDIST) and Road Safety Office of Traffic New Territories South jointly organised the “STDIST Cycling Safety Week 2020” between August 12 and 18 under the theme of “Pedal Smart, Ride Slow” to encourage leisure cyclists to enjoy riding at a safe speed.

STDIST Commander Leung Tsz-kin, Chairman of Sha Tin District Fight Crime Committee (STDFCC) Mr Li Sai-wing and a number of committee members joined STDIST officers to promote cycling safety at event booths. Activities included a demonstration on cycle tracks by officers with appropriate safety equipment, crossword puzzles on cycling safety as well as displaying banners at cycling accident black spots. Nearly 10 000 sets of publicity materials were distributed to members of the public throughout the event.

Mr Leung looked forward to enhancing collaboration with STDFCC, Area Committees of Sha Tin District and other local organisations to raise public awareness of crime prevention and road safety.
