Police Anti-Coronavirus Contingent (PACC) Head cum Assistant Commissioner Cheung Ching and PACC Deputy Head cum Commander of Kowloon City District (KCDIST) Lai Chi-leung visited the chief leader of the Mainland nucleic acid test support team and Deputy Director of the Medical Administration Bureau of the National Health Commission Mr Li Dachuan and other support team members at Metropark Hotel Kowloon on September 12. During the visit, the support team shared their experiences in fighting COVID-19 while officers of KCDIST and PACC presented souvenirs to the support team and expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the team’s efforts in enhancing the testing capability of Hong Kong in such a short period of time, enabling the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to launch the large-scale Universal Community Testing Programme (UCTP).

Since August 2, over 400 support team members stayed at Metropark Hotel Kowloon. During their stay, KCDIST officers implemented crowd and traffic management outside the hotel. They also maintained closed contact with relevant departments in ensuring all support team members could travel safely to and from the hotel and the temporary air-inflated laboratories at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre.

On September 16, the support team departed from Hong Kong after completing the UCTP on September 14. On the day of departure, KCDIST officers bid farewell to the support team and expressed their utmost gratitude to the team for their contribution to the anti-epidemic work.

On the other hand, Regal Oriental Hotel in KCDIST was designated as the Holding Centre for Test Results by the Department of Health (DH) between April 22 and August 20 where a police post and Quick Response Team were set up in order to quickly respond to any emergency incidents upon request by the DH and maintain public safety in the area.
