In view of the recent upsurge in the number of pedestrian-related traffic accidents in Kowloon East (KE) Region, the Road Safety Office of Traffic KE jointly mounted a publicity campaign with Police Community Relations Offices in KE Region between July and September. Officers disseminated road safety messages to pedestrians at traffic black spots and in public housing estates. They also gave warnings to jaywalkers, reminding them jaywalking is liable to a fine of $2,000.

As the number of fatal traffic accidents involving elderly pedestrians has been on the rise, officers particularly focused on educating senior citizens in the campaign, reminding them to use pedestrian crossing facilities, comply with traffic light signals and pay attention to road condition while crossing the road.
