During summer holidays, Border District (BORDIST) held a series of activities through the “Creative Border” programme, which aimed to connect with the new generation and establish common values between the Force and the public.

One of the highlights of the programme was the BORDIST Junior Police Call (JPC) Logo Design Competition which invited BORDIST JPC members to design a new logo, thereby strengthening their sense of belonging to the JPC Scheme. The competition received an overwhelming response with more than 80 submissions received. In September, a judging panel, comprising officers and JPC Honorary Presidents of BORDIST, selected the champion, second runner-up, third runner-up and other outstanding submissions.

Due to the epidemic, JPC members mostly spent their summer vacation at home. Through co-creating videos with BORDIST, JPC members shared tips in enjoying their holidays. JPC member Lok-tin taught others to bake cheesecakes in a “Junior Master Chef – DIY Dessert” video which received over 2 200 views with positive comments. Another JPC member German created a “Soccer Challenge” video to showcase his freestyle football skills so as to remind everyone to keep exercising and stay healthy during the epidemic.

Using various social media platforms, BORDIST shares the latest Police information and news through a monthly online video Q&A game with local and cross-boundary students. In September, officers of the Police Community Relations Office of BORDIST made use of video-conferencing software to introduce Police’s anti-scam mascot “The Little Grape” to students in order to promote anti-deception messages. Students were very enthusiastic in learning anti-scam tips and said they would remind their family and friends not to fall prey to scams.

BORDIST will continue to recruit new JPC members and develop new communication channels, with a view to staying connected with students, teachers and parents.
