The Criminal Intelligence Bureau (CIB) conducted two work experience sharing sessions at the Police Headquarters on September 18. Targeting illegal gambling establishments involving the “fish-hitting machines”, the Force Gambling Experts shared knowledge and experience with frontline officers on collecting evidence at the scene, compiling witness statements and giving testimony in court. A representative of Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) also shared real case studies with the attendees.

CIB Research Unit hoped that the sharing sessions could provide support to frontline units in taking enforcement actions against the growing prevalence of illegal gambling establishments involving the “fish-hitting machines”. Over 200 frontline officers attended the sharing sessions and immensely benefitted from the experience sharing. They also took the opportunity to discuss the common problems and difficulties encountered by colleagues on the front line.
