The “Transcend Success” Recognition Ceremony, organised by the Hong Kong Athletes Career and Education Programme (HKACEP) of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, was held on October 21. Through this recognition ceremony, HKACEP expressed its gratitude to all the organisations that have been giving support to athletes. During the ceremony, the Chairman of the Police Sports Council, Assistant Commissioner Lui Kam-ho, accepted the souvenir on behalf of the Force. Mr Lui said, “In 2016, the Police became the strategic partner of HKACEP via the Elite Athletes Strategic Engagement Scheme. In future, the partnership will continue to foster interaction between the Police and the public, in the hope of offering retired athletes an opportunity to transform themselves.”


The recognition ceremony was simultaneously the second edition of the “Stars to Shine” Mentorship Programme Kick-off Ceremony. Senior Inspector Yu Sum-yee, a former artistic cyclist, was once again appointed one of the “Star Mentors”. He looked forward to sharing with the mentees his experience in carving out a second career as a retired sportsman. He said, “Through participating in this programme, I found out that a lot of youngsters support and believe in the core values firmly upheld by the Force. Via this Programme, we hope to strengthen our communication with athletes undergoing a career change, in order to help them understand our work.”
