The Chairman of the Hong Kong Credit Card Industries and the Security Controller of a retail group presented plaques to officers of the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) on November 6 in appreciation of their professionalism.

In the past two years, officers of Counterfeit and Forgery Section and Intelligence Section of CCB, through public-private partnership, mounted a number of intelligence-led anti-crime operations targeting members of several transnational fraud and counterfeit credit card syndicates, and conducted arrest operations codenamed “BOLDHUNTER” and “ARROWSOUND”. Through close collaboration and intelligence exchange with the industries, CCB cracked down on a number of transnational automatic teller machine card and credit card fraud cases. Thirteen persons were arrested while over 100 counterfeit credit cards, forged documents for credit card application and a number of devices were seized in the operations.

CCB will continue to maintain close liaison with the credit card industry and retailers to crack down on criminals through public-private partnership. Meanwhile, CCB will share knowledge on guarding against credit card fraud and crime trends, and offer suggestions regarding security measures to the business sector in order to enhance the knowledge and awareness of investigating and preventing credit card fraud.
