In view of an upward trend of criminal damage cases arising from debt collection in early 2020, the Task Force Sub-unit of Chai Wan Division (CWDIV) established an Anti-Debt Collection Team in June to combat such crime.

Upon in-depth investigations, intelligence gathering and analysis, the Anti-Debt Collection Team mounted a number of arrest operations from June to October, during which the officers cracked down on seven cases and arrested 11 persons. A series of arrests had a deterrent effect and the number of criminal damage cases caused by debt collection had dropped from 13 in May to three in October this year.

In order to commend CWDIV officers for their efforts, the founding president Ms Fong Choi-peng and the current president Ms Tsoi Suet-leong of the Lions Club of Harbour View presented a gold plate to Eastern District Commander Peter Whitton and CWDIV Commander Chiang Shui-ching on November 6. After the presentation ceremony, the officers exchanged views with the representatives of the Club to foster communication.
