The Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) strives to extend its reach to forge new training collaboration in the Belt and Road region through fostering stronger cooperation with academia and police training institutions.

On November 26, the Director of HKPC Cheung Ching was invited to give a presentation at the virtual fifth General Assembly Annual Meeting of the Association of Police Training Institutions in Asia (APTA) to upgrade the HKPC from the Dialogue Partner status to full membership of the Association. Initiated by the Korean National Police University in 2017, APTA is an Asia-Pacific regional cooperation platform for some 20 police training institutions from 14 countries, majority of which are from the Belt and Road region.

During the meeting, Ms Cheung spoke on HKPC’s training philosophy, the use of cutting-edge technologies to harness training and its pursuit of accreditation of academic and vocational qualifications. With the overwhelming support of existing members, the Chairman of APTA formally welcomed HKPC to be one of the member institutions of APTA.
