About 40 officers of Marine North Division (MNDIV) participated in an exercise on December 8, 2020 to test their abilities to cope with emergencies arising from the Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station (GNPS) and the Lingao Nuclear Power Station to ensure that they can effectively carry out their duties in accordance with the Daya Bay Contingency Plan (DBCP).

The exercise simulated a nuclear emergency involving a minor leakage of radiation at the GNPS. The Secretary for Security activated the DBCP and ordered an evacuation of Tung Ping Chau as a precautionary measure. MNDIV officers cordoned off the nearby sea, conducted a search on Tung Ping Chau and in Mirs Bay and evacuated residents and visitors. The exercise was conducted smoothly which demonstrated the professionalism and coordination of the officers concerned.

The exercise tests the officers' capability to carry out duties in accordance with the Daya Bay Contingency Plan.
